New to Lakeview
June 2025:
A message to incoming families from Principal Marianne Williams:
(scroll down for important dates!)
We are excited to welcome our newest Lakeview Leopards to campus next year, and while we have been busy wrapping up an incredible school year, we have also been hard at work preparing for the start of the 25-26 school year. I look forward to connecting with you to learn the strengths and needs of your student and what is important to you as a partner in their education. I am confident that this coming school year with be a successful and satisfying year for you and your child.
During the month of July, you may not receive any messages from the school. That is a time most of us are either vacationing, attending professional learning, or in district level meetings to prepare for the coming school year. I will also be off during the month of July, but if you have questions, please feel free to reach out and I will respond once I am back in the building at the beginning of August.
Please note that enrollment does continue to fluctuate over the summer months and is subject to change as the district and schools monitor enrollment and staffing closely during the summer. Families can expect updated staffing information and classroom/teacher assignments the week of August 25-August 29.
Please mark your calendar for several upcoming events during the summer and beginning of the school year:
Thursday, August 21st: Practice Kindergarten Day
Each family will receive an invitation to bring their student to school for a shortened kindergarten experience with our kindergarten teachers. This is a drop off event, so it's a great way for you and your child to practice your routine for going to school and saying goodbye. There will be three sessions offered for families to sign up for: 9:30-11:00, 12:00-1:30, and 2:00-3:30. More information will be coming out to families in August including the link to sign up. While this is an optional event for your child, it's a great way for students to see the classrooms, meet peers, meet staff who will be working with them, and experience some whole group and small group activities.

Friday, August 29th: PTSA Summer Playdate
Our PTSA organizes events during the summer to facilitate relationships and connection with our school community. I encourage you to make sure you are signed up to receive the PTSA newsletter to get updates. These events have always been a hit with our families and are hosted on Lakeview's playground. It's a great opportunity to meet new families and maintain friendships over the summer.

September 2nd-September 4th: Family Connection Meetings
Incoming kindergarten students and families will be meeting with your child's teacher during these three days. This is an opportunity for families and teachers to build relationships, for you to share more about your child to ensure their experiences in Kindergarten are successful. Please note there is no school for Kindergarten students on these days. More information about family connection meetings will be coming out to all families in late August.
First Day of School for Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten students will have a staggered start. The staggered start is intended to transition Kindergarten students into school and to allow teachers to provide more support to students on the first day. This means Kindergarten students will start school on either Friday, September 5th OR Monday, September 8th. Kindergarten students will be assigned group A or group B. More information including your child's start date will be coming in late August.
