I am starting my 28th year of teaching. I've been a proud Lakeview Leopard since 1996. My career began teaching children with special needs. After six and a half years, our daughter Erin was born (1990) so I began working part time . . . first as a kindergarten teacher for six years. For the next 12 years I shared my job with Kellie Adams. (3rd grade for five years and 4th grade for seven years.) After 21 years as a part time teacher, I taught 6th graders for one year - the last year 6th graders were at our school. I started teaching 2nd grade the fall of 2012 and continue to this day. I grew up in Montesano, WA, graduated from Western Washington University and live in Kirkland with my husband, Jerry. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary the summer of 2014. Our daughter Erin lives in New York City and just graduated as a nurse midwife at Columbia University. Our son, Riley was born in 1993. He studies at the UW Department of Architecture. As a family we enjoy traveling, reading, running, bicycling, hiking, sailing, exploring the NW, visiting our extended family, having Grammy over for Sunday night dinners, watching movies and documentaries and especially sitting around visiting. When I am not working, you may see me at Children’s Hospital rocking the babies, having coffee with my sister Cindy and friends, out walking or having dinner out in downtown Kirkland with Jerry. As a little girl growing up in a small town, I never thought I would live in such a vibrant, suburban city, have opportunities to travel the world and teach in such a fine, fine community!
